Obit. Nielsen, Agnes (1888-1973)
Mrs. Agnes Nielsen, 84, passed away Sunday [Jan. 7th] at 3:35 p.m. at her home in Cleghorn suddenly due to a heart condition.
She had lived in Cleghorn since 1950, prior to this on a farm in Cherokee County, Iowa. She was born April 20, 1888, at Ballerum, Denmark, coming to the U.S. in 1915. The former Agnes Andersen, she was married to Chris Nielsen, on April 5, 1913, in Denmark. She was a member of the Cleghorn Presbyterian Church.
She is survived by seven daughters and two sons: Mrs. Leo (Elizabeth) [Elisabeth] Pedersen of Cherokee, Mrs. Stanley (Margaret) Birch of Cleghorn, Mrs. Leo (Marie) French of Meriden, Mrs. Edgar (Esther) Hagey of Marcus, Mrs. Donald (Vera) Wiese of Meriden, Mrs. Howard (Elna) Lundell of Livingston, Wisc., Mrs. Earnest (Anna Mae) Wilcox of Marcus, Niels Nielsen of Cleghorn and Anders Nielsen of Worthington, Minn.; 28 grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Chris Nielsen on December 10, 1943, also six sisters, one brother and three grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon [Jan. 9th] from the Cleghorn Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Harold Sieglaff officiating. Burial was in the Marcus and Amherst Cemetery under the direction of the Boothby Funeral Home of Cherokee.
