OBITUARY OF MISS SUSIE LARSEN
MISS SUSIE LARSEN died at Fort Dodge, Iowa, on Wednesday, December 30, 1908, age twenty years, one month and eight days.
The death of Miss Larsen was a sad surprise to her many friends at this place, few of whom were even aware that she was ill. She went to Fort Dodge about the middle of August and was employed there up to the time of her death, which was caused by diphtheria, from which she suffered about nine days.
Susie Larsen was born on a farm south of Newell, November 22, 1888, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Peter Larsen. She moved to Newell with her parents when they left the farm and much of her life was spent in this place. Besides her parents, she is survived by three sisters, Mrs. N. H. Christensen, Mrs. J. E. Christensen and Miss Emma Larsen; and four brothers, Lars, John, Martin and Charles.
The remains were brought to Newell on Friday morning and were immediately taken to Newell Cemetery, where interment was made. Following the burial, an memorial service was held at the home of the parents Rev. L. Thompson, pastor of the Danish Baptist Church, made a short address in memory of the deceased and appropriate music was sung, Miss Bertha Pedersen having charge of the music.
Miss Larsen was a member of the Danish Baptist Church and was held in the highest esteem of all who were acquainted with her. In the family circle she will be greatly missed and a host of friends mourn her early demise. The bereaved relatives have the sympathy of the entire community in their time of sorrow.
