Copied from the Barnard 1909-1989 History "The Spolum's oldest daughter Myra and her husband, Ray Maves, came to South Dakota at the same time as the Spolums. They lived on several farms in the community including the one now owned by Blanche and Francis (Doc) Shattuck. They lived on a farm two miles east of Highway 281 on State Highway 10 (which was then a dirt road). The buildings no longer exist. In 1937 they returned to Illinois where they farmed until Myra's death in 1943, Ray then moved to Wisconsin where he died in 1984." they had no children.
